Special Prosecution Investigating Call Centers for Defrauding Foreign Nationals

The Special Prosecution against Corruption (SPAK) is investigating ten Tirana-based call centers for allegedly defrauding foreign nationals.

Sources told Euronews Albania Dutch and German authorities had contacted SPAK after receiving complaints from their respective citizens.

SPAK is investigating specifically call centers that ask clients to invest in stock markets and cryptocurrency, promising high returns.

Allegedly, some 1,000 foreign nationals have been defrauded so far and the damages amount at least half a million euros, although the real actual sums may end up being much higher after the investigation is concluded.

The Tirana Prosecutor’s Office has launched its own investigation into the matter.
