Student Protest in Pictures – The 8th Day

Thousands of students are protesting on their 8th day in front of the Ministry of Education of Albania.

“They are just a bunch of discontent students. What’s the worst that can happen? – Ramiz Alia, December 1990” [Ramiz Alia was the last president of communist Albania. Students’ protests brought down the regime under his rule. Current Prime Minister Edi Rama also called protesting students “a bunch of failures” on the second day of their protest. Now he is fervently and humbly asking them to negotiate.]

“We know how to keep promises. Get ready for a rectal examination. For free.” [University of Medicine message, in reference to government’s presumably corruptive concessions for “free health check”]
“We have no money for pens.”

“Comply with our demands. Enough breaking our Edis.” [Enough breaking our b…]

“With no hope remaining, it’s upon us to create hope”

“Looking for a wealthy wife to pay for my [university] fees”
“Thank You – not you, not you, f… you, not you, not you – for Making Us Proud” [Several revered national figures pictured. Current politicians and ex communist dictator Enver Hoxha (f…. you) excluded.]
“You have raised tariffs higher than Ronaldo’s shorts”

“We have been immigrating thinking there was no hope. We forgot the hope were us.”

“Prime Minister, you are the worst of robbers.”

“Mr. Prime Minister, reply to our demands before 4 pm. We have the German language class at 5 pm.” [In reference to graduates taking private language courses before immigrating to Germany.]
“Guys, talk to him. You’ve made him talk to himself.” [In reference to PM Rama holding a long monologue live on Facebook after students refused to meet him.]
“Prime Minister, do you accept 3D money?” [In order to placate student dissatisfaction PM Rama posted on his FB page a 3D rendering of an alleged project to build new student dormitories.]
