Ilir Vrenozi is the most gifted comedian in Albania. This humble middle-aged man is extraordinary. He is a resident of Korça, a unique city in the south east of the country.
It was a regular day when he first recorded a video on his cell phone and put it up online for his friends to see. Surprisingly, the video had thousands of viewers in a few hours.
Today, he has dozens of similar videos up online that protest against the government. Every day, his videos get hundreds of new followers and thousands of comments from Albanians all around the world.
Ilir Vrenozi is the father of two wonderful children, an exceptional husband who loves his family, friends, and the library of the city very dearly.
Ilir Vrenozi is a helper of the youth; he is a protector of mothers and sisters. He is the guardian of children, the defender of the garbage collectors and the homeless people of the city.
He mocks the tall prime minister. He ridicules the prime minister’s absurd grandiosity. He condemns the vile and unpopular politics of politicians and thieves dressed in suites and ties.
But the fate is ironic with Ilir Vrenozi, who is currently unemployed!
Inside his humble room, his interpretation is natural and is inspired by people and the pain he feels for them. His messages are simple and easily understood. His characters: abandoned and destitute people. The premier is lit by a small lamp that is sufficient to show a dim light on the cell phone. Even though the walls of his “comedic theater” are bare, the voice that echoes in the room is warm.
He doesn’t dress a bow or tie, and until this day he hasn’t been in a commercial. He usually wears sports clothing, home slippers, and puts a black and red scarf around his neck, which represents the soccer team of his heart, Skënderbeu. He is endowed with a tender heart and kind spirits. He is blunt and his communication style is characteristic of the common people. In the city’s main boulevard, where hypocrisy and robbery walk arm in arm, his ways may seem inappropriate, rather vulgar and brutish.
His protest is filled with pathos! Ilir Vrenozi is an honest person who doesn’t pretend!
Ambiguity! This dominating filth adorned with the veil of fraud is uncovered by the cell phone of Ilir Vrenozi. He doesn’t claim the truth, but he shows it. He doesn’t profit from it, use it, but he solely protects it.
However, Ilir Vrenozi could be the unluckiest comedian in Albania! His talents drown in a perpetual spiritual poverty and because of the misery that has captured our society, many cowardly producers of the elite capital city cannot see him.
The protest isn’t favored in Tirana, thus the media doesn’t arrive until Korça…
The freedom has a high cost for the liberator! And what’s worst: while they cannot support him, they choose to marginalize him!
But even without makeup, financial support, cameramen, and producers, there he stands alone, with his cell phone, in the confines of his humble room, there in the cold city; he is surrounded by his followers!
Through his short videos he gives an extraordinary show, without tickets, and stills the thirst and anger of an ever growing circle of followers.
His stories of the winter fill up the troubled hearts and souls with hope and joy. His art sends messages that are missing in the comedy halls, full of sparks and lies, which are costly and misleading.
Ilir Vrenozi is a poor amateur artist who lives in the cold city of Korça and who from his simple room has recorded all the videos without any support, reaching thousands of followers.
In a human sense Ilir Vrenozi has truly made it! He has won over the hearts of those people he speaks to!
And like the object of his protest: “the tall one,” who claims that “there is work but no professionals,” the message of the good man Ilir Vrenozi is the opposite: there are professionals, but no work!
