After the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (CoE) rejected for a second time the list of three candidates proposed by the Albanian government for the Albanian seat at the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) in Strasbourg, the government has made a third attempt to present qualifying candidates.
On this new list, we again Sokol Berberi, former judge of the Constitutional Court, after he was rejected the last two times. The other two new names are Suela Mëneri dhe Markeljan Koça, who were both part of the pre-selection of 12 candidates made by the government in December 2016.
Although Mëneri and Koça didn’t make the final list of three candidates last time, it seems that now the government will try again with these “reserve” candidates.
