Three individuals have been apprehended by the Albanian police for transporting 9 illegal immigrants to Tirana.
Two of the suspects were arrested on the Pogradec-Prrenjas road and were found to be transporting five illegal immigrants. It’s reported each immigrant would pay EUR 1000 for transport to Tirana and then crossing to a border point with the final destination being an EU Member State.
Another suspect was arrested on the road Erseke-Leskovik and was found to be transporting four illegal immigrants. Each immigrant had been promised that for EUR 1000, he would get them to an EU Member State.
According to police, the Korca-Tirana-Shkodra road is the main road used by traffickers recently. A number of arrests have been made in the last few weeks at various points along this transit route.
