Tourism Employees Protest Lack of Government Support amid Risk of Bankruptcy

Employees of travel agencies protested today in front of the Ministry of Tourism, demanding fiscal facilities and government assistance to cope with the economic damage caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

They demanded exemption from taxes for a temporary period and government support with minimum wage for employees.

Since March, they haven’t worked at all and the situation has pushed them close to bankruptcy.

Tourism is expected to be severely affected from the pandemic throughout summer.

The Albanian government does not have a clear plan to help bring the tourism sector out of the crisis.

Reports have predicted that tourism will be the sector hit hardest by the pandemic.
