Two KED Members Dismissed by Vetting

The two members of the Justice Appointments Council (KED) that were vetted last week, Ahmet Jangulli and Sotiraq Lubonja, have both been dismissed by the Independent Qualification Commission. Both were unable to justify their assets.

As regards the current KED, this leaves only Enton Dhimitri and Fatos Qato to be vetted. Their hearings have not yet been scheduled.

So far, 5 out of the current 9 members have been dismissed, while only 2 passed the vetting. As we have explained before, the KED is in charge of evaluating and ranking the candidates for the Constitutional Court.

In order to speed up the election of a new Constitutional Court, the EU Delegation has proposed to skip the vetting of KED members. As is now becoming clear, this would have allowed corrupt judges and prosecutors to choose the next Constitutional Court.
