Kosovo Security Force (KSF) Lieutenant Iliriane Bunjaku will be honoured with the International Sword, given to the highest performing international cadet on the course by the Royal Military Academy.
“She fought off very strong competition to win the award, which reflects her outstanding performance, demonstrating physical resilience, courage and true leadership skills throughout the course. Congratulations on an incredible achievement Iliriane!,” the British Embassy to Kosovo wrote in a Facebook post.
The Embassy announced that the award will be presented by the Chief of the Defence Staff General Sir Nicholas Carter.
“This is an extremely proud moment for us and demonstrates the professionalism and capability of the KSF,” the post reads.
To date, the United Kingdom has trained 23 KSF members at the prestigious Sandhurst Academy. Two of them are graduating as officers today.
In 2018, the Assembly of Kosovo approved legal changes to transform the mandate of the Kosovo Security Force into an armed force.
The transformation process of the Kosovo Army is expected to last ten years.
It has 2,747 active soldiers and aims to double the number while securing a reserve force of 3,000.
