Vetting Commission Dismisses Appeal Judge Fatmira Hajdari

On Thursday, the Independent Qualification Commission (KPK) dismissed Judge Fatmira Hajdari due to issues with her asset declaration.

The decision was made by Roland Ilia, Firdes Shuli and Etleda Çiftja.

Fatmira Hajdari has been part of the justice system since 2000, initially as a judge in the Tirana Court. In 2013, she was appointed to the Tirana Court of Appeals.

Hajdari’s  declared wealth has increased from 22,000 (ALL 2.7 million) in 2003 to €402,000 (ALL 49.3 million) in 2017, according to a BIRN report.

Fatmira Hajdari is the mother of opposition member of parliament Rudina Hajdari. In her speech in parliament on Thursday, MP Hajdari defended the justice reform and slammed those who had accused her of calculating her political action in order to save her mother from the vetting:

“Today started with news about my family, and many people out of this room, who have attacked me like wolves [saying that] I stayed in this parliament precisely in order to defend my mother, they surely got their answer today. I believe in the Justice Reform, and while I say this about my mother, I also say it about any judge and prosecutor. I will keep supporting this reform until the end, because I look beyond my family interests,” Hajdari stated.
