Vetting Commission Dismisses Head of Mat Prosecution

The vetting commission dismissed the head of the Mat Prosecution Office Hysni Vata.

The Independent Qualification Commission (KPK) body comprising of Firdes Shuli, Lulzim Hamitaj and Pamela Qirko found issues with all the three vetting criteria: assets declaration, background and professional proficiency.

The prosecutor could not justify all his assets, whilst he was found to have spent about €3,700 more than his legitimate earnings.

Elka Ermenkova of the International Monitoring Operation (ONM) that in several cases the prosecutor had not done comprehensive investigations, particularly in relation to accidents in the Bulqiza mines.

The National Security Agency (DSIK) had made a negative assessment on Prosecutor Vata’s background, concluding that he was not fit for office.
