Today, the Independent Qualification Commission (KPK) dismissed Tirana judge Artan Laze, for failing to justify and falsely declaring his wealth.
The KPK judicial body, consisting of Brunilda Bekteshi, Lulzim Hamitaj, and Olsi Komici, found several infractions in Laze’s wealth declarations.
According to KPK, the judge does not have sufficient income to justify his wealth, that, at the end of 2017, was valued at 24 millions lekë and consisted of a 159 square meter apartment in Tirana, liquid bank assets valued at 1.9 millions lekë and 5.5 million lekë in cash.
Lazaj rejected the KPK findings, labelling the wealth assessment process as inaccurate.
According to Laze, the KPK experts did not account for the income he has earned from 1994, when he started working in the judiciary system.
Laze was part of a priority vetting list, as he was competing to be part of the High Judicial Council (KLGj).
