Vetting Dossiers of 36 Magistrates Opened

The Independent Qualification Commission (KPK) has opened the dossiers of 36 new magistrates. The dossiers were selected by lottery. The list includes a number of members from the current High Council of Justice (KLD), such as Gjin Gjoni, the reportedly richest judge of Albania and a favorite target of former US Ambassador Donald Lu, who used him as an emblem of the corruption of the judiciary. Gjoni was also a vocal opponent of the justice reform, claiming it would make the judiciary dependent on politics – a not completely unwarranted claim.
