Vetting Regains Tempo

It seems that the slow pace of the Independent Qualification Commission (KPK) has finally picked up. Perhaps bolstered by the additional funding allocated by the government after KPK Chair Genta Tafa made a request, the KPK has recently opened an additional 36 dossiers, and has scheduled 5 hearings this week.

Today, Justice Nominations Council (KED) Enton Dhimitri will be heard, as well as councillor to the Constitutional Court Fiona Papagjiorgji. Tomorrow it will be the turn of Prosecutor at the General Prosecution Office Artur Selmani and High Prosecutorial Council (KLP) candidate Shpëtim Kurti. On Friday, Shkodra Appeals Court judge Luan Dervishi, who is also candidate for the Constitutional Court and the High Judicial Council (KLGj), will be vetted.

According to Reporter, Dhimitri’s own asset declaration poses no problems, although there may be some minor issues with his wife’s income. Also Papagjiorgji’s declaration appears to be unproblematic.
