Anyone found going to the beach will be fined, or prosecuted based on new amendments to the Criminal Code.
Ardi Veliu, the General Director of the State Police visited Saranda and Himara and said that he was aware many citizens had visited the country’s beaches. He reminded people that this is prohibited until an announcement is made that they are allowed to go.
“I call on all citizens to have absolutely no need to frequent these beaches until a second order is issued that will regulate the way it will be treated and the way we will deal with beaches.”
Police will be setting up frequent checkpoints between Saranda and Gjirokaster to prevent citizens from going south.
