Wizz Air Adds Fifth Aircraft and Two New Routes to Tirana Service

Budget airline Wizz Air has announced it will add a fifth plane to its fleet at Tirana International Airport.

The addition will bring with it two new routes, to Barcelona, Spain and Cologne, Germany.

Two years since Wizz Air started its base in Tirana and the number of routes between Albania and Europe has reached 29.

Dr. Constantin von Alvensleben, General Executive Chief of Tirana International Airport, said:

“This step offers a new perspective for Albania, bringing the country closer to Europe. Glad to announce our commitment to continue collaborating with Wizz Air for an essential development that will support Albania’s economic recovery after the pandemics and also offer consumers a wide range of affordable low prices destinations.”

George Michalopoulos, Wizz Air Commercial Director, said that the company hopes to double their Tirana fleet, bringing some 5 million passengers in the next three years.

In March, Wizz Air announced six new routes from Tirana, including Malmö, Stockholm, Pescara, Genoa, and Rome.

While earlier this month, a route between Tirana and Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia was announced with Saudi-owned budget airline Flynas. Flights will take place three times a week.
