Over 1,500 children have been infected with Covid-19 in the country since the pandemic began.
Only 115 of them, or 7.6 percent, needed hospital treatment.
According to the head of the pediatric infectious disease service, Xhorxhina Kuli, the biggest infections of children have occurred in families and not in schools:
“We mainly have infections within families. Fortunately, we have not found any infections so far in childcare institutions. There have been 2-3 from one school but they have come from infected parents.”
Speaking about the current situation in infectious pediatrics, she said that only 6 children are hospitalized in the Covid ward.
“We do not have intensive therapy, we do not have intubation, but with complications, with respiratory tract infections, with multisystem inflammatory responses, which are being followed step by step,” she said.
In the last 24 hours in the country, 1,124 new infections were detected with Covid-19, bringing the total number of infected people since the beginning of the pandemic to 85,336 people.
