31,590 doses of the Pfizer vaccine arrived in Albania on Thursday evening, bringing the total of vaccines received by the country to around 1,9 million.
Some 650,000 of Albanians have been fully vaccinated so far, or roughly 22% of the population. A total of 1,458,480 vaccines have been administered overall.
Although the Ministry of Health designated August and September open vaccination months, making vaccines available for free to every citizen and resident over 18, Albania’s vaccination intake is among the lowest in Europe. By contrast, 70% of adults in the EU have been fully vaccinated.
The Albanian government has recently mandated COVID-19 vaccines for healthcare workers, teachers, and students (over 18). They will have until 30 September to get at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
During the last 24 hours, four people lost their lives to COVID-19 in the country 853 new infections were reported. There are 103 people hospitalized and 17 in intensive care.
