Albania’s High Court has started to examine cases after more than one year lacking a quorum.
In an announcement on Wednesday, it requested the parties and lawyers to check regular announcements for hearings on the court’s official website.
“The High Court has started reviewing court cases in public hearings, according to the planned calendar and announcements on the official website of this court as well as its external premises,” it said.
The High Court has only 3 of its 19 members but this quorum is just enough to allow it to make some decisions on the reviewing of cases.
The court had only one member for more than a year, and was therefore dysfunctional. Filling its seats was one of the EU Council conditions set for Albania to sit in EU talks.
