Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the government is taking measures to ensure that cases such as the murder of Klodian Rasha by a policeman, do not happen again. Rama said that reflection of the Eagles forces training and ability is necessary.
“There is no need for it to happen again…it should be worth analyzing at all the technical and professional levels the degree of readiness of the troops in that division. The level of training, the quality of their trains, the training process. No one should be deceived into thinking that this is a won battle.”
Rama said that if he was not Prime Minister, he would be out on the streets demonstrating with the protestors.
“If I was not in this role, I would have come out in protest- not to throw stones at police or break windows….The most natural thing in a democratic country is that the society gathers and reacts to say that our community is here and is watching you.”
He also thanked Director of the Police Ardi Veliu for helping solve the murder of Rasha.
“It’s a merit of the director of the State Police for the integrity and respect of the procedures for clarifying the truth as soon as possible and with justice.”
Rama again described the murder as “accidental”. It was also referred to as such on a document offering the family economic assistance.
Klodian Rasha’s father Qazim told the media it was not accidental, it was done on purpose and there is no excuse for that.
During the 6 days of protest, protestors demanded the resignation of Ardi Veliu. But in a reaction to journalists, Prime Minister Rama said that the protesters would not get their wish.
“The State Police will neither be taken hostage nor will it be shaken by the old policy of violence and by the perpetrators who instigated it!”
