Health Minister Ogerta Manastirliu announced 15,210 doses of Pfizer vaccine will arrive in Albania on Tuesday.
During today’s session in parliament, Manastirliu announced that over 13,000 citizens have been vaccinated to date.
“Over 13,000 people have been vaccinated during this period. Today we are waiting for the next batch of vaccines under Pfizer’s contract. 15,210 doses of vaccine will arrive in the country. We will continue to pace up the vaccination of our medical staff and the 80+ age priority group”, she said.
The ministry announced later in the day that the delivery of vaccines was postponed by 24 hours due to issues related to the transport company.
Manastirliu said in parliament that 14,400 AstraZeneca vaccines will come in two weeks, as part of COVAX scheme to immunize teachers.
Regarding the epidemiological situation in the country, “there is a slight decrease of infections observed, compared to two weeks ago“, the minister added.
Albania has currently received 17,355 doses of Pfizer vaccine. According to the contract with Pfizer, , about 40,000 doses should have been delivered by the end of February, but this deadline has been postponed to March.
PM Rama has promised other doses from undisclosed countries. According to PM Rama a total of 40,000 doses should have arrived by the end of February.
