Albania has currently obtained 1.6 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Chief of Epidemiology at the Institute of Public Health (IShP) Silva Bino announced that 800 thousand people can be vaccinated as a result. She also stressed that the country had sufficient capacities to vaccinate the entire population within the end of the year.
Bino said that, by the end of February, more than 450 thousand vaccines will have arrived in Albania. The first 10 thousand doses will arrive in the third week of January, 30 thousand more will arrive in February.
She also warned that people who have recovered from COVID-19 should nonetheless receive the vaccine.
The Chief of Infectious Diseases Service at the main Albanian hospital, Najada Çomo was the first to receive the first dose of the vaccine. Prime Minister Edi Rama was the second.
