Albania Will Continue to Support Ukraine, Says Albanian President

Albanian President Ilir Meta has reiterated that Albania will continue to support Ukraine, in alignment with the European Union and NATO.

On Monday, February 28, Meta visited the Ukrainian Embassy in Tirana to express solidarity with the Ukrainian people and offer Albania’s support.

“We believe that the only solution to the situation is dialogue on an equal standing, and in this regard, our efforts both as a NATO member country and as a country which intends to join the European Union have been and remain clear – in full line with NATO and the EU,” Meta said after his visit.

He also emphasized that Albania believes in dialogue and diplomatic solutions to the crisis.

Following the European Union’s decision, on Sunday evening, Albania also announced sanctions against Russia, which includes freezing assets, banning Russian aircrafts from Albanian airspace, and a number of other economic sanctions.
