Albanian Coronavirus Committee: Pandemic under Control, No Need to Expand Testing

The committee of experts involved in managing the coronavirus pandemic announced on Tuesday that changing the testing strategy is not reasonable.

In a declaration released by the Ministry of Health , the Committee said that results so far do not indicate that a reconsideration of the current testing strategy is necessary.

The Committee claims that the pandemic is currently under control in Albania, as witnessed by the fact that the country’s healthcare system is not strained at this time.

The strategy of testing for the coronavirus is one of discovering, tracking, and breaking the chain of infection, as recommended by the World Health Organization.

The Committee’s statement comes after repeated calls by the Albanian opposition for the government to increase the number of tests, which have been rebuked by the government.

As of Wednesday, April 8, 400 coronavirus infected cases have been reported, of which 22 have died and 154 have recovered.
