Albanian Government Further Restricts Business Activity amid Coronavirus Curfew

As part of the measures taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the government has announced new restrictions on citizen movement and activity.

From today, March 21, at 1pm, to Monday, March 23, at 5am, no people or vehicles will be allowed to go out. All businesses and business activities will be closed during this time, as well. The army and the police will patrol the streets to ensure obedience to these orders.

The Ministry of Health has also announced that starting from Monday and throughout the week only a select number of businesses will still be allowed to operate. Additionally, they will only be allowed to operate from 5am to 1pm, after which time the curfew will be in place.

During these 8 hours, the following services will be allowed to continue: grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, factories, manufacturing workshops, construction, freight transport, mail services, hotels, veterinary practices.

On the other hand, the following will remain closed indefinitely: shopping centers, bars, restaurants, any store that does not sell food, tire repair shops, all sports and cultural activities, spas and wellness centers.

From 1pm to 5am, people and cars will once again be prohibited from going outside and no services will be allowed to operate.

During this time, only the following will be able to go out: the State Police, the Armed Forces, freight transport vehicles, government service units, authorized media personnel, food delivery vehicles, and vehicles that have special authorization.
