Albanian Minister of Interior Sander Lleshaj has presented his resignation to Prime Minister Edi Rama, according to the latter.
In a press statement on Thursday, Rama announced that Leshaj had resigned after informing the prime minister of the killing of 25-year-old Klodian Rasha by a police officer. Rama was in the US at that moment and asked Lleshaj to wait until his return.
The prime minister did not specify whether he accepted the minister’s resignation.
Rama praised the police work under his rule and blamed the opposition for the recent protest.
