Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that the attacks on two vehicle registration centers in northern Kosovo were instigated by Serbia.
Around 1 a.m. this Saturday, a vehicle registration center was burned down in Zubin Potok, and grenades were thrown at another center in Zvečan.
In a Facebook status, Kurti wrote that individuals and groups who are against public order “are attacking our state and disturbing the peace. Clearly, they are encouraged and supported by Serbia, namely the autocratic regime there.”
He added that Serbia is using Kosovo citizens to provoke a “serious international conflict” and this is all happening “before the eyes of the international community.”
Earlier today, Interior Minister Xhelal Sveçla described the attacks as terrorist and criminal acts.
Tensions have been high between Kosovo and Serbia, after Prime Minister Kurti announced that cars entering Kosovo with Serbian license plates would be required to purchase temporary Kosovo plates.
Serbian residents of northern Kosovo protested the decision by blocking the roads at several border crossings with Serbia.
