Oil workers from the Ballsh refinery are entering the 9th day of hunger strike over unpaid wages.
It’s reported that their situation is worsening and medical staff have been brought in to attend to them. Despite offers of medical care, the workers have refused as they continue to demand government intervention to solve their problems.
To date, no word has been given by the government or the company that owes them money.
In February 2020, oil workers went on a hunger strike for arrears of wages but agreed to return to work when it was announced that a new company would take over the management of the refinery and that an opportunity would be found to pay the arrears.
