The Court of Tirana has exonerated former deputy Aqif Rakipi of all charges. Rakipi stood accused of vehicular manslaughter, as a result of a car accident that took place in August.
According to the expertise of Tirana’s Prosecution Office, said accident was caused by the pedestrian crossing the highway and a halted minibus blocking Rakipi’s vision as he was driving.
The Prosecution Office claimed that the former deputy failed to turn himself in after the event because of his distressed psychological state.
The victim’s relatives expressed no opposition to the Prosecution’s conclusions or any ill-will toward Rakipi himself.
Former PDIU deputy Aqif Rakipi had his mandate revoked in early January as he was indicted for falsifying his decriminalization self-declaration forms and hiding his criminal past.
Rakipi has appealed the Central Election Commission (KQZ) decision to the Administrative Court in Tirana.
