Vaccination against COVID-19 starts today in Albania, according to Prime Minister Edi Rama.
In a Facebook post this morning, Rama wrote:

” Good morning and a few hours away from the start of the vaccination campaign…..today we enter the phase of the great offensive of the final departure [of the virus] from our lives. I wish you a good week.”
The government has reportedly provided 500,000 doses of the anti-Covid vaccine produced by Pfizer and BioNTech.
Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on January 1 that the first 10,750 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will arrive in Albania in the third week of January Another 30,250 doses will come in February.
A few days ago, Prime Minister Edi Rama inspected the Air Albania stadium together with the Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu. The stadium will serve as the first vaccination centre.
Rama has declared that Pfizer has been agreed with the company that vaccination starts in the third week of January. He has said that the doctors will be vaccinated first.
Exit contacted Rama’s spokesperson to ask if he and other senior government officials had the vaccine or would also be vaccinated in the first wave. He said “not yet, no”.
