Over the last few weeks, Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj has been plagued by a string of plagiarism scandals where his office have plagiarised the work of French artist Clet Abraham, the Mayor of London, and designer Rosie Manning.
On Saturday, Veliaj posted an image of a design that he claims is for Tirana’s new university campus. The image shows a modern, rectangular design with two-tone light features and the extensive use of glass throughout
The problem is that the image he posted is actually the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, designed by architect Diller Scofidio + Renfro in New York.
Veliaj claimed that the work is underway on the project yet nothing has been published about the architects or tenders involved.
Exit has reached out to the Boston ICA and Diller Scofidio + Renfro to ask if they have been engaged by the Municipality of Tirana to create an identical project, or if they have given Veliaj permission to use their designs to build the new Tirana university campus.
