The European Union has provided support to Albania to strengthen the capacity of medical equipment in hospitals and to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The news was announced during a visit of the EU Ambassador, Luigi Soreca, at the University Hospital Center “Mother Teresa” with the Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu.
The EU donated a state-of-the-art scanner to the country’s largest hospital.
“As far as I understand, it will be the most high-performing equipment that Albania will have among the medical equipment. It is a donation of EUR 750,000 from the EUR 5 million that the EU donated to Albania last May “, said Soreca.
The Ambassador thanked the medical staff for their hard work during the pandemic.
Last week, Soreca announced that the European Union will provide another EUR 11 million to Albania for the purchase of vaccines and equipment to complete the vaccination plan.
