Serbian Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandar Vulin said that the former Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Ramush Haradinaj deserves “contempt and punishment” following his statement on a possible referendum for joining Albania.
Vulin refers to Haradinaj as “war criminal” and “leader of a drug cartel”, while again uses the pejorative term “Shiptari” when referring to Albanians.
Vulin constantly referred to Albanians as “Shiptari” which is used as an insult. The Serbian term for Albanians is “Albanac”.
Two days ago Haradianaj said that if there is no progress on visa liberalization process or joining NATO, he himself will request a referendum for joining Albania.
“But those who are silent about his war crimes and threats to “Great Albania” are more dangerous than him,” the Belgrade- based media, Tanjug reports Vulin said referring to European Union.
Nenad Popovic, a Minister without Portfolio in Serbian government also had a harsh reaction to Haradinaj’s statement.
“Political loser and war criminal Ramush Haradinaj, faced with accusations of the most monstrous crimes against the Serbian people, wants to return to the margins of political life, angrily attacking Serbia and its President Aleksandar Vucic with extremist views,” Tanjug quotes Popovic.
Serbia’s President, Aleksandar Vucic said on Tuesday that threats should not be returned with threats, adding that Serbia will have an “adequate answer”.
“My answer is you do your job, whatever you want, and we will have a good and adequate answer, and citizens should not worry,” Vucic said.
