The Municipality of Vlora called on citizens to avoid driving due to bad weather.
In an official announcement, the Municipality warned there is a risk of flooding.
“Seeing the weather conditions in Vlora, but also in the whole country, we would ask you to avoid all movements with cars due to heavy rains and strong winds,” the Municipality said.
“Take care of yourself and your family! For any need, contact the Water Supply, Sewerage and Public Services of the Municipality,” it says.
The Albanian Institute of Geosciences has warned of intense rains and possible flooding over the next few days.
From January 6 to 11, they said to expect heavy rain that could bring dangerous levels of inflow to rivers such as the Drin-Buna, Mat, Ishem, Erzen, Shkumbin, Seman, and Vjosa. As a result, floods could be caused by the Drin-Buna River and Lake Shkodra once the rivers reach their maximum inflow level around January 12.
