The Head of the National Vaccination Program, Erida Nelaj has responded to comments made by EU Ambassador Luigi Soreca regarding the apparent absence of a vaccination plan for Albania.
Earlier in the week, Soreca said he was surprised by Prime Minister Edi Rama’s dissatisfaction with the EU over vaccines. He also said that Albania needs to. prepare a vaccination action plan to enable the EU to intervene and assist.
Nelaj responded by saying that there is a detailed vaccination plan in place. She suggested that perhaps Soreca had not read or understood it, or that it hadn’t yet been translated into English.
“The plan is ready and detailed. It has been worked on very seriously but maybe it hasn’t been translated into English and has not yet reached the ambassadors.”
When Exit contacted the spokesperson for Rama on Monday to ask about the groups of those who would be vaccinated and how doses would be distributed among foreigners and members of the government, the response was that it was still in the planning stage.
