Port of Durres Opens Today for Italian Residents and EU Citizens Travelling to Italy

As of today, maritime transport lines for passengers will resume in Albania. This is according to an announcement from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy.

The Durres Port Authority has clarified that as of this date, 22 June, only Albanians residing in Italy can travel, as well as EU citizens who wish to travel to Italian ports. Ports will be fully opened to Albanian citizens on 1 July.

Booking tickets to sail to and from ports of Albania will lie with the international maritime passenger transport companies, the Ministry said. They will also be required to inform passengers about rules and restrictions in force in Albania and destination ports.

The General Maritime Directorate will monitor implementation of safety protocols for maritime transport that will be approved by the Ministry.
