President Decrees Appointment of New Agriculture, and Interior Minister

President Ilir Meta has decreed the resignation of Interior Minister Sander Lleshaj and the Proposals of Prime Minister Edi Rama for changes to the ministerial cabinet.

Meta has decreed the approval of Blendi Cuci as the Minister of the Interior and Milva Ekonomi as Minister of Agriculture. The changes come following the resignation of Lleshaj after protests broke out in Tirana following the murder of Klodian Rasha by a policeman.

Cuci studied Law at the University of Tirana and completed a Masters in management at the Hasselt University in Belgium. He served in positions in the judiciary and local government and has represented Albania in the Council of Europe. He was elected as a member of the National Assembly of the Socialist Party in 2007 and was the Minister of Agriculture since 2019.

Ekonomi has a degree in statistics and economics from the University of Agriculture in Tirana and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Tirana. She was the Deputy Minister of  Health between 2013-2016. Between 2000 and 2011, she was a member of the Municipal Council of Tirana and has lectured at the Agricultural University.
