The Prosecution Office has opened an investigation into 32 MPs and mayors of the opposition, involved in the protest of April 5, when they blocked the four main road axes in the country.
Among those investigated are PD leader Lulzim Basha, LSI leader Monika Kryemadhi, as well as the mayors of Shkodra, Kukës, and Kamza.
Besides the politicians, the Prosecution has also started an investigation of 15 citizens who took part in the protests.
All of them are investigated under the accusation of “organization and participation in illegal rallies and manifestations,” “obstructing the circulation of transportation vehicles,” and “disrupting the public peace.”
PD leader Basha called the investigations ridiculous:
This is a ridiculous act of political investigators Rama–Marku, which unfortunately shows what we have warned for long time ago, that Rama is currently also bending justice and the prosecution to his will. This is the final of autocracy that is amassing all the powers. It is an honor for me to be criminally investigated together with the citizens that we have brought to protest for a legitimate right.
The April 5, organized by PD and LSI, happened one day after the Court of Tirana decided to leave 11 citizens in prison for their participation in the Kalimash protest against the Rruga e Kombit.
