Russia Expels an Albanian Diplomat as Response to Albania’s Same Act

Russia declared the first secretary of the Albanian Embassy in Moscow, Jonida Drogu persona non grata.

A statement released on Monday by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that Drogu must leave Russia within 72 hours, TAS reported.

“This step was taken by the Russian side in response to Albania’s decision to expel from the country under a fully fabricated pretext, the first secretary of the Russian Embassy in Tirana,” the statement reads.

On January 21, the Albanian government expelled a Russian diplomat for repeated violations of COVID-19 restrictions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the diplomat, Alexey Krivosheev had repeatedly violated the rules since April 2020, despite the ambassador’s promises that the diplomat won’t repeat his behavior.
