Two of the Poçem substation workers who began their hunger strike six days ago are suffering aggravated health conditions.
Although doctors have advised against further fasting, the workers are determined to rebegin their hunger strike following the administration of first aid. One of the workers stated that he was “at the end of the line,” and financial desperation would drive him back to the hunger strike.
Poçem substation workers began their hunger strike on February 13 to protest 27 months of missing wages. Yesterday, Ballsh oil workers joined the strike as a result of their own missing wages.
Yesterday, oil workers met with representatives from the company managing the refinery. However, the company refused to acknowledge the workers’ missing wages and has no intention of paying them. Workers remained determined to refuse cooperation until their missing wages were paid.
In addition to receiving missing payments, both groups of workers demand work continuity and new contracts.
