Government Demolishes Tirana Homes after Two Years of Resident Resistance

The National Territory Protection Inspectorate (IKMT) has torn down several of the 27 buildings scheduled to be demolished yesterday in the Astir area of Tirana.

IKMT tore down the houses while the police kept the area surrounded.

Residents initially clashed with the police, but eventually backed down, stating that they see police officers as victims of the Rama government as well.

The demolition of their homes marks the Rama government’s crushing of the resistance these residents have put up for two years.
