Vetevendosje Insists Their Election List Will Be Certified, Accusing CEC’s Head of Being Biased

The largest political party in Kosovo, Vetevendosje reacted after the Central Election Commission (CEC) did not certify its voter list.

In a Facebook post, Vetevendosje writes that the head of CEC, Valdete Daka, “acted like a puppet on the hands of the godfathers, but they can not stop Vetevendosje “.

“The Office for Certification of Political Entities had recommended that the lists of all entities be voted as they were, in the package, but CEC took the anti-institutional decision and requested that the lists be voted one by one. Of course, the only purpose of this decision was to overthrow the list of VETËVENDOSJE! Movement,” the reaction by Vetevedosje reads.

Despite the fact it was proposed to be voted as a package about all candidates, on Friday Daka insisted that each list of political parties be voted separately. She was supported by the representatives of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), but was strongly opposed by the representative of Vetevendosje.

With the support of the majority, it was decided to vote one by one for political entities, as some of them had not replaced the candidates whom the Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC) said were not in accordance with Article 29 of the Law on General Elections, or were convicted with a final decision by a Kosovo court in the last three years.

As a result, CEC did not certify the electoral lists of Vetevendosje, the Social Democratic Initiative (NISMA), and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) for the snap parliamentary elections of 14 February.

Vetevendosje called the voting scandalous. According to them, Daka acted under pressure and was controlled by political parties that ruled so far in Kosovo.

“The control that is being exercised over Valdete Daka and through her over the CEC, is so great that for the first time the chairwoman of the CEC did not approve the recommendation from the Office for Certification of Political Entities, but rejected it,” Vetevendosje said.

They announced that they will continue with the legal procedures and will present the case to the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel.

“We are convinced that on February 14 our list will be certified, voted and winning, complete and with all the names, because we have the right,” Vetevendosje said.
