In an extraordinary session this evening, the Parliament of Kosovo elected Vjosa Osmani Speaker of Parliament with 65 votes pro, zero against and zero abstentions. The parliament has 120 seats but the opposition did not attend the session.
42 MPs had requested an extraordinary session today, to elect the speaker after its short-lived speaker Glauk Konjufca resigned following the coalition agreement between the two largest parties, LVV and LDK, on Sunday. Osmani was proposed her party’s coalition partner LVV.
Konjufca became Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Kurti Government today.
Vjosa Osmani was LDK’s candidate for prime minister in the October 6, 2019 elections, and the most voted MP of the party.
