The inhabitants of Zharrëz, who have been in a hunger strike for the last 20 days, have today started a march on foot to Tirana. During their trip, they have been joined by other supporters.
For several months, the inhabitants of the village have complained about the damage to their houses from the earthquakes caused by oil drilling activities of Bankers Petroleum.
They state that the state doesn’t respond to their pleas from Zharrëz, and have therefore decided to depart for Tirana as the only possibility to confront the government.
The inhabitants of Zharrëz have demanded compensation of the damage their property and an end to the drilling activities of Bankers. The government has so far failed to respond.
