The Ministry of Health announced that 40 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in the past 24 hours, as Albania closed July with only one COVID-related death.
There are now 421 active patients in the country, 24 requiring hospital care.
Albania saw a steady decline in case numbers over June and July, but the trend was reversed in the last weeks when numbers began to climb.
This surge comes after the presence of the Delta Variant was confirmed in Albania.
The Institute of Public Health relayed the numbers in a press conference earlier this week, where it also specified that they do not expect the current lockdown measures to change.
Last week, Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu announced that August will be open vaccination month for everyone over 18. There will be no need to register online to book a vaccine. Everyone wanting a jab can show up at a vaccination center with an ID.
More than 512,625 people have been fully vaccinated in Albania and more than 1,1 million doses of the vaccine have been administered to date.
