The government has no plans to revive the country’s tourism business.
In an interview with News 24, Prime Minister Rama said that the government still has no clear plan for the country’s fledgeling tourism sector.
“I have no answer for the tourism sector because it is a situation where no one knows when it’s coming back. We don’t know how it will be done, but in May we will clarify…The Minister of Tourism is working to understand what will happen.”
But, according to him, this year there will be domestic tourism in the country and this will help to alleviate the suffering of touristic businesses.
“The most probable thing is that this season if there is tourism, it will be atypical, where tourism will be domestic. Very rich people who can’t wait to get on the yachts, or go to the most expensive places, will discover Albania, the beauty of the country and this will help the country and society.”
The tourism sector is set to be the most affected part of the economy following the pandemic, according to forecasts of the International Monetary Fund.
