On Saturday, President Ilir Meta nominated Prime Minister Edi Rama to form a new government following the Socialist Party (PS) victory in April elections.
The nomination came after the Socialist majority request, following the swearing in of the 140 deputies in the Albanian parliament yesterday, which marked the beginning of the country’s 10th legislature.
They elected Lindita Nikolla as Parliament Speaker on Friday, and chose also the heads of parliamentary committees.
Rama’s nomination will be followed by a vote in parliament of his proposed new third cabinet. The president will then decree each minister.
