Five Dead, 123 Confirmed Cases of Coronavirus in Albania

A total of 19 new cases of Coronavirus have been identified in Albania during the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 123.

A 49-year-old-man from Tirana has also died, bringing the total number of deaths to five. Yesterday the Ministry briefly announced the fifth death, but later confirmed the individual had in fact been resuscitated. 

Lezhe and Berat have become the latest Municipality’s to have confirmed cases.

In the last 24 hours, 74 suspected cases were tested, bringing the total number of tests to 930. A total of 10 patients have recovered, five have died, and 57 are currently hospitalised. Two of those in the hospital are in intensive care. The remaining patients are in self-isolation at home, in a stable condition. 

Patients that have been declared as cured, must self-isolate for a period of 14 days.

The spread of Coronavirus cases is as follows:

  • Tirana: 72 people, one dead
  • Durres: 8 people, one dead
  • Fier: 12 people, one dead
  • Lushnje: 4 people, one dead
  • Elbasan: 2 people
  • Rrogozhina: 2 people
  • Kavaja: 4 people, one dead
  • Korca: 9 people
  • Vlora: 4 people
  • Shkodra: 2 people
  • Lezha: 1 person
  • Has: 2 people
  • Berat: 1 person

All of those affected have had direct contact with patients, or have recently returned from Italy.
