Special Prosecution Seizes Albanian Banana Importer after Sixth Cocaine Bust

The Special Prosecution against Corruption (SPAK) has seized the banana transportation company AlbaExotic after cocaine was found in its containers on six separate occasions.

Over the summer, Albanian authorities found several kilograms of cocaine originating from Ecuador hidden inside bananas and transported by AlbaExotic. The latest, and sixth, cocaine bust happened on Tuesday, October 12.

Albanian authorities believe that an organized group is behind the shipments.

SPAK has already arrested the company’s administrator, Bajron Gumeni. The company’s owner, Eduart Dauti, has been on the run since July, and denies any wrongdoing.

According to Euronews Albania, AlbaExotic’s legal representative has sent a letter to US Ambassador Yuri Kim, asking for the US’s intervention to find the culprit behind these shipments, as they argue the company is not involved in cocaine trafficking.
