Serbian President Congratulates Biden, Grateful to Trump

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has congratulated US President-elect Joe Biden for his victory in the last weeks election.

Vucic expressed his gratitude to President Donald Trump for the “good collaboration” with Serbia, and hoped for its continuation under Biden, to whom he wished “wisdom and determination” in his policies.

Vucic has earlier stated that a second term for President Trump would be at the benefit of Serbia.

Biden was a leading voice in calling for an end to violence in Bosnia and Herzegovina before the Srebrenica genocide in 1995,  when Serbian troops massacred 8,372 innocent civilian Muslim Bosniaks in an operation that lasted about 10 days.

The then MP Aleksandar Vucic, part of the Slobodan Milosevic party, successfully threatened the international community from parliament not to retaliate against Serbia. “For every Serb killed, we will kill 100 muslims,” Vucic threatened the world a few days after the massacre.

Biden has promised to demand that justice be done for the victims in Srebrenica, and that those who carried out war crimes be held accountable.

He has also promised to demand justice for the three American Albanian brothers executed by the Serbian state while in custody in 1999, and to promote Kosovo’s independence.

In statements before the election, Biden had vowed to guarantee the territorial integrity and independence of Bosnia Herzegovina and Kosovo.
